About Me:

First things first:  my name.  I've always wondered what people would call me if they weren't exposed to my name first.  I've created a little experiment to find out.  If you're interested in participating, or in what others have chosen to call me, please see “The Name Game” in my blog.  I've taken care to not use my real name to allow for this experiment to take place.

My user name “ashlandtraveler” came to me months ago while I was on a bit of a vision quest.  I had ended up in Ashland, Oregon, where I had some amazing experiences with truly wonderful, genuine people.  I traveled on, continuing my quest.  One day I stopped at a public library to try to connect with some of the people I had met.  I needed to create a new email just for this (as I was not in contact with anyone through regular email, etc.).  That is when “ashlandtraveler” came to me.  And, since one of my friends from the quest was the one who suggested I start a blog, and was the person through whom I discovered Zaadz, “ashlandtraveler” felt like the right way to present myself in this community.

Now about the nameless me …

I share my life with my lovely (and pregnant) wife Olivia and the first fruit of our love, Shaun Ethan Alexander (Ethan).  I am blessed by their presence in this existence.  They help bring out hope, light, love, struggles, tears, frustration, joy, laughs, giggles, fun, and more in my life.  All of which I am grateful for … eventually.  My journey with them has been one of many twists, turns, and sudden stops.  We have also enjoyed rolling hills, wide meadows, and majestic mountainsides.

I come from a religious background.  I embraced it for many years, then found myself led elsewhere.  I still cherish the benefits I've experienced from being raised the way I was.  I consider myself a friend of religions.  I even attend church from time to time (not the one of my childhood - one that speaks to me more clearly).  I do not call any religion my own.  I love the truths that can be found, and the love that can be felt, when I seek them out in a religious setting.

I think that most religions put the huge stumbling block in the way of “ours is the only way”.  I cherish the thoughts shared by Neale Donald Walsh:  “Ours is not a better way, ours is merely another way.”  I love the many ways each of us can find connection to the Divine.  It is amazing.  It's like there's an individualized path for each of us to connect to the Universal Spirit, and to all of creation.  It's exciting!

*********************************************************************

I am seeking wholeness through the integration of my total self.  I value the concept of the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, aether).  I relate these to the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and soulful or divine aspects of my life; respectively.  This can also be seen as body, mind, heart, spirit, soul/divinity.

I am seeking to “live in this world, but not of it”.  I would like an opportunity where I can support my family and lifestyle through something I believe to be of great worth to all who come in contact with it.  I like to share the good things.  I would love to be able to do it all the time.

I am seeking to know my life journey.  Obviously, I'm living it in some way, but I feel lost and without direction.  I'm seeking to find a glimpse of the mountain top so I can dedicate my strengths more effectively to reaching it.  And, if it is to be, to know the path to travel on the way.

I am offering all the good things I can give:  wisdom, when I am wise;  directions, when I know the way; kindness, when my heart is true;  honesty; openness; wholeness, when I know wholeness; silence, when all is quiet within; peace, when I embrace all; love, when I am connected to the Divine.

I am offering myself, as is.  All the flaws.  All the struggles.  All the love.  All the all.

*********************************************************************

There are a bunch of movies, quotes, books, and people that have affected me on my journey.  I am starting to list them in the designated areas of my Zaadz.  So please look there to find out more about me.  Also, check out my blog.  I will be sharing lots and lots.  I look forward to connecting with you!

Peace and love,

ashlandtraveler
